Linux – UniFi Change IP Address via CLI

1. You must do this for each AP separately since by default they’ll all connect using the same IP,
2. Connect a computer to the same LAN segment as one AP and manually configure your IP to with a netmask of
3. ssh ubnt@ (default pass is ‘ubnt‘)
4. Edit the file /etc/udhcpc/udhcpc
5. Update the lines:

to contain the IP address and netmask you need in order to be able to properly communicate with the controller.

6. Save the file and exit the editor
7. Within several seconds, your ssh connection will hang because udhcpc has changed the IP address.
8. The AP is now using a default IP that works with your existing network and can be adopted by the controller.
